Part-Time Upper Elementary and Middle School STEM Teacher

The Senesh School, a progressive, independent K-8 Jewish day school in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn, is hiring a half-time STEM teacher to join our 2025-26 faculty.

Successful candidates will be dynamic, innovative, nurturing, and reflective educators that possess a growth mindset. Responsibilities include developing and implementing engaging STEM based projects and investigations that incorporate real-world applications of STEM concepts. The annual salary range is $35-$40,000 (2.5 days a week) commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing a warm, creative, and supportive classroom environment
  • Teaching a STEAM unit through a project based learning teaching method to grades 3-6 (class meets 2x week for one semester)
  • Teaching two technology-related elective classes to 7th and 8th grade students (class meets 1x week)
  • Working collaboratively with other faculty members to create design projects that are cross curricular
  • Differentiating instruction and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners
  • Keeping accurate documentation of curriculum and student progress
  • Building partnerships with parents to support student progress

Qualifications and Dispositions:

  • MA Degree in education or a related field
  • Three or more years experience teaching STEAM classes; including experience working with upper elementary and/or pre-adolescent and adolescent students
  • Demonstrated expertise in curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Strong understanding of current trends and best practices in STEAM education.
  • Collegial and collaborative approach to being part of a team of educators
  • A “whole child” approach to teaching and learning that focuses on growth in academic, social, and emotional domains
  • A progressive approach to education, including differentiating instruction
  • Cultural competency and a commitment to diversity and belonging
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
