Mid-January

Hello Fourth Grade Families!
Thank you to everyone who attended our Martin Luther King Jr. Day Tekes! The fourth grade put a lot of work into it, and they did an amazing job. We have exciting times coming up, including our first ever trip to the Brooklyn Autism Center (BAC) for our social action project. We’re really looking forward to it!
Have a relaxing long weekend and Shabbat Shalom!
-The Fourth Grade Team
PEEK AT NEXT WEEK:
  • Monday, January 15 – MLK Day, NO SCHOOL

HEBREW with Ilana:

This week the 4th grade worked on Student Day – Yom Talmid. With partners they thought of an idea for teaching an activity to the class, and then wrote it and practiced how to present and teach it to the students. We also started to learn past tense and worked on verbs and sentences. Next week the students will teach their activity to the class.

Shabbat Shalom

JUDAIC STUDIES with Aliza:
In Chumash this week, the fourth grade finished their first parshah for the year, Parshat Toldot! This is a very exciting accomplishment for the students, and from here we will be moving on to Parshat VaYeitzei, which we will learning sans workbook and straight out of the Chumash text itself! Students worked on and completed their end of parshah projects, in which they took on the role of lawyers for Yakov and Esav, and had to prove to the class using quotes from the text that their choice of twin deserved the birthright! Shabbat Shalom and have a good weekend.

GENERAL STUDIES with Miriam:
The fourth graders spent a lot of time this week preparing for the INCREDIBLE performance at today’s tekes. They had only a week to memorize their lines and learn all the choreography. They brought their wonderful spirit, passion and deep respect Dr. King’s infamous words and made us all so proud. In math, we have continued our study of fractions. This week was all about adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, including simplest form. Next up is improper fractions and mixed numbers. Congratulations on a wonderful week, 4th graders, and enjoy your long weekend!
