Hebrew

This week students started taking a series of assessments in all 4 skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.
A similar assessment was taken at the beginning of the year, the results we receive will allow us to track students progress in all 4 skills. These tests do not impact the students grade on their progress reports but are very important so we can track each students progress from the beginning of the year and from previous years and the MS as a whole.

Math

7X worked on their unit project of making a mobile of solids this week, calculating the volumes and surface areas. They did an amazing work of completing the project! The following unit (unit 14) is on Proportions.

7Y worked on learning the materials on Unit 16: Probability of Simple Events, and the corresponding unit test will take place on Wednesday, May 30th.

Have a great long weekend!

Humanities

I truly loved watching students work together today to help revise and edit one another’s history papers. They did a fantastic job acting as thoughtful and purposeful editors.

Additionally, students completed the final independent reading assignments. I was welcomed with character resumes, playlists, and comic strips, which were very meticulously and creatively done!

Happy Memorial Day!

Judaic Studies

The 7th graders began learning Chapter 13 of the book of Bmidbar/Numbers. Why does Moshe send people to scout out the land of Israel? What can we learn from looking carefully at the instructions he gives the scouts before they go? If God is all powerful, why not magically transport all of Bnai Yisrael to their promised land — what is the point of this slow journey through the wilderness? Students translated the text and found these and many other interesting kushiyot/text-based questions.

Shabbat shalom,

Science

This week in science we placed our knowledge about solar panels into action. Based on their blueprint design they started conduction of their own custom solar cars. This project is allowing students to problem solve the physics required to get the car to move using only solar power. The start of this project has been exciting as both classes shared their different car designs. Next week we will continue working on this final science project.
