Last Class with Shinshinim
Israel
We made shoko b’sakit for our last class with the Shinshinim and shared memories of all the fun times we had “travelling” through Israel. We also practiced the dance for the upcoming Israel Parade. We have learned so much with Yuval and Yaheli and are so grateful to them.
Math
This week we used many objects around the room to learn our 3 and 4 times tables. We counted our lockers in groups of 4 and practiced using our fingers. Then, we learned the relationship between multiplication and division, and using our learned facts were able to realized that division is like a backwards multiplication- instead of looking for the whole number, you are looking for a part. Next week we will be adding bar models to our 3 and 4 times table knowledge!
Over the weekend practice some division problems for the 3 and 4 times tables.
Science
In science, the students eagerly measured the height of their cucumber plants in the different soils. We also took a closer look at the plants and noticed new leaves. Some plants now have four leaves and another new bud. We are hoping the new buds are flowers because the next stage after that will be a cucumber. The students all made by hand a pot with the clay soil and are eager to plant a new seed in each. By the week’s end, some students helped harvest spinach and lettuce we are growing in the new Hannah Senesh flower and vegetable garden in the playground area.
