Our Inclusive Community by Barbara McGlamery

Our Inclusive Community by Barbara McGlamery, Senesh Parent Openness, inclusion, empathy and support. These words perfectly describe Hannah Senesh to me.  We have been tremendously proud to call Senesh our home for the last nine years. Lorenzo, our oldest son, newly graduated in June, is now off to Little Red School House for high school. I was raised in Lake City, Florida. A town with maybe one Jewish family.  My own family was Southern Baptist.  I grew up with no hatred for Jews, in fact, Judaism was seen as the bedrock of Christianity. I was never a religious person.  Then...

Exciting Summer Work from Senesh Faculty

Many of our teachers have taken part in a variety of enriching professional development opportunities this summer. They are all looking forward to sharing what they have learned with fellow teachers and with their students! Shelley Fogelson, our new Lower School Director, participated in a week long Reading Institute at Teachers College with close to a thousand teachers from across the United States.  At the Institute, teachers studied how children develop as readers as well as best practices in teaching reading.  At the heart of the curriculum is the Reading Workshop during which students are immersed in fiction and nonfiction...

The partnership provides both organizations with new resources and capabilities and mutual access to...

Successful Lower School Giving Circle

The Lower School Giving Circle was a success and we thank our Lower School parents who participated in this pioneering program at Hannah Senesh.  Many thanks to Judy Schoenberg, 2nd grade Senesh parent who chaired this effort with support from Angie Lieber and the Development Department. Through support from Amplifier, a network of Jewish giving circles, Hannah Senesh launched the first ever Giving Circle at a Jewish day school earlier this school year.  Lower School parents who contributed $1,000 or more were afforded an opportunity to gather together and use their pooled philanthropic resources to thoughtfully decide how they will direct their giving within the context of the...
