Social Studies, Buddies, and More!

Social Studies We had a blast with our first social studies lesson! We explored three different kinds of communities: urban, suburban, and rural. Full Week of School!

Simchat Torah and Intro to Chumash In honor of Simchat Torah we took a closer look at the school’s torah. We compared it to the small torah that we have in our classroom. Ask your child about the similarities and differences that they noticed. We also watched a movie about a soferet, a scribe, and to learn more about how she writes a torah. Lastly we connected our studies of the torah as a ritual object, to the study of Chumash which we are beginning this year in second grade. The students are so excited to discover this new subject...

Ask your child what they wrote about. Today we emulated the family’s trip with a four stop walk around the neighborhood and to the park. Thank you to Elliot’s mom Shirley for joining us! Writing and Reading We started reading our class read aloud- a true classic story,...

Second Week of Second Grade

Community Building In class we reflected on what we would like to learn more about, improve on, or try this year. We called these our “hopes and dreams” and when we shared our hopes and dreams we realized that there were many different goals such as, “Speaking more Hebrew”, “Learning division”, “Reading longer books”, and “Making more friends”. We then brainstormed classroom rules to help us accomplish our goals. We organized the rules into three categories: rules that have to do with the classroom, yourself, and others. We learned that as a community we need to work together to support...
