A Note from Miriam

Dear Fourth Grade Families, I wanted to express my deep gratitude for your support and generosity as I close my time here at Senesh. Yesterday, the fourth graders showered me with love and presents, including a poster and an Amazon gift card from the 4th grade parents. I was blown away by your generosity and it will be immensely helpful as my husband and I start this new chapter. Through emails, in person, at conferences — each of you have taken an opportunity to wish me the best and express your happiness for me. It is community in every sense of...

Snow Day in Spring

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It has been an exciting week here in the fourth grade. Not only did we go on a field trip and get an unexpected snow day, but we have a lot of thrilling events coming up next week. We will be presenting our Pesach projects, enjoying a pre-holiday celebration, having our poetry cafe, and finishing our science project with Sammi! On a more bittersweet note, we will also be saying goodbye to our general studies teacher Miriam as she goes on maternity leave. We hope you will stop by to wish her well. Shabbat Shalom! -The...

The Ides of March

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It’s an intense time of year for us at Hannah Senesh. Pesach is fast approaching, Daylight Savings Time has kicked in, and Parent Teacher Conferences are in full swing. Thank you to everyone who came to Conferences yesterday. We are looking forward to seeing the rest of you on Monday evening. As a reminder, if you know that your child will be absent in the days before Pesach vacation, please let us know beforehand so we can make sure that they miss as little material as possible. Finally, we are looking forward to our class trip...

Early March

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It has been an exciting, if cold and snowy week. Fourth graders had their last trip to the Brooklyn Autism Center, enjoyed an exciting Yom Shuk in Hebrew class, and welcomed Alisa Cohen, who will be covering for Miriam during her maternity leave, onto the Fourth Grade team! It’s hard to believe, but Parent Teacher Conferences are next week! If you haven’t signed up yet to meet with your teachers, please do so soon. Shabbat Shalom! -The Fourth Grade Team PEEK AT NEXT WEEK: Monday, March 12 – 4th Grade Parents Coffee With Karen – 8:15-9:15...

Purim Week

Hello Fourth Grade Families! We had a wonderful time celebrating Purim with our students and parent guests yesterday! Thank you to everyone who could attend. It’s hard to believe (especially since we only just got back from February break), but Pesach is only four weeks away! We are very busy learning and preparing for Pesach, while also enjoying some upcoming events, including our Field Trip to Plymouth Church on Tuesday, March 13. A reminder to parents to sign up for Parent Teacher Conferences, which take place on March 15 (and in the evening of March 19). Thank you! Shabbat Shalom!...

Happy Presidents’ Week!

Hello Fourth Grade Families! Thank you for coming to the 3rd and 4th grade talent show! The kids did an amazing job, and it meant so much to them to see so many people cheering them on as they demonstrated their skills. We had a wonderful time watching them, and at the Rosh Chodesh Adar parade that followed. Despite the upcoming break, 4th graders have been working hard at all of their subjects. We hope that you all enjoy a restful and fun-filled Presidents’ Week. We’re looking forward to celebrating Purim and the arrival of spring when we come back...

Welcome February

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It’s so hard to believe it, but February is upon us! This means that we are more than halfway through the school year, and from here the days only get longer and (hopefully) warmer. Your fourth graders are busy as always, learning and preparing for upcoming events. This week, they enjoyed the school Tu B’Shvat fair, where they sampled fruits of Israel, played games, got their faces painted, and made bath bombs! February break is only two weeks away (!) now, and so we ask that if your child will be leaving early or coming back...

January’s End

Hello Fourth Grade Families! It’s hard to believe it, but we are officially past the halfway point of the school year! Fourth graders have begun their social action trips to the Brooklyn Autism Center. Many thanks to our parent chaperons! We also enjoyed watching a rehearsal of the Eighth Grade production of Beauty and the Beast, which was performed at school this week. We are now looking forward to longer Fridays beginning next week, and the Tu B’Shvat fair on Wednesday! Shabbat Shalom! -The Fourth Grade Team PEEK AT NEXT WEEK: Monday, January 29 – Spring After School Programs Begin...

Mid January

Hello Fourth Grade Families! We hope you had an uplifting and meaningful Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. We have now entered the Hebrew month of Shvat, the time when the weather starts to inch itself toward warmth and we celebrate the trees and plants that sustain us on Tu B’Shvat (this year on January 31). Fourth graders are hard at work in all of their classes, making good use of this stretch of uninterrupted school. A reminder to parents that spring after-school programming begins on January 29, so please let us know if there are any changes to your...
