5th Grade Week of 12/4

HUMANITIES: What a week! We are making amazing progress with our India Pavilion Projects. We are researching, writing, and creating our final products. We can’t wait to blow everyone away on Jan. 9th! We also are continuing our study of Homeless Bird. We are having robust discussions on topics ranging from character traits to symbolism to Indian marriage customs. Students are incredibly enthusiastic about this text, and are making amazing progress with their reading comprehension. 5th Grade Week of 12/1

Hi 5th grade parents! This was a great week in 5th grade. We changed up how we do recess and now there is a designated area for large group games and an area for smaller group hang outs and games. We are now doing recess with the 6th graders. In advisory we practiced mindfulness based on the idea of spreading happiness. We also got “spiritual chevrutas” who we will share ideas with during mindfulness advisory. In Thursday advisory we continued our work with our Empathy and Kindness unit. Happy Thanksgiving 5th grade!

Humanities The fifth graders worked diligently today on their evidence-based reading responses to the book Wonder, including writing book reviews. They were also excited to brainstorm choices for their upcoming independent book projects. They have begun to study India and are selecting specific topics to focus on for individual work after we return from Thanksgiving. Hebrew  During the past couple of weeks we have been focusing on family trees and family relations. Week of Nov 6th

Hi 5th grade Parents, We look forward to welcoming back Tony next week! This week we had student teacher conferences during advisory. The students were so reflective about their strengths and goals. We look forward to continuing our advisory mindfulness program next week along with our unit about Kindness and Empathy. Oct 30 – Nov 3

This was a very exciting week in 5th grade! Students received additional lockers to share with a partner for their bags and coats. We worked on organizing our materials so we can maximize our 5 minute break in between each class. We also worked on using kindness and empathy while at our lockers and sharing the space in the best way possible. Our second Mindfulness advisory occurred on Thursday. What a Week!

Hello 5th Grade Community! We are very excited to share our updates with you. Our students engaged in engaging and rigorous academic work, and started Mindfulness during Advisory periods this week. We hope this curriculum helps our students become more mindful, reflective, and relaxed as the year progresses. We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
