5th Grade Week of 5/14
What a week! Please enjoy our classroom updates below, and have a restful long weekend!
Humanities: In Humanities this week, we continued our Book Club Units, and discussed important characters, settings, and events at the beginning of our various texts. We continued our China Museum Projects in Social Studies, and took a much needed break after ERB’s. Have a lovely Shavuot!-Tony
Math: After the standardized test, fifth graders learned to add and subtract decimals, and multiply and divide decimals by a 1-digit whole number. Next week, the class will learn to change fractions to decimals using long division, multiply decimals by 10 and tens, 100 and hundreds, and 1000 and thousands. –Kelly
Judaics:
What a fun week! Students celebrated the creation of the Kibbutz system by presenting their “Kibbutz Degania” and dancing with banana date smoothies!!
We also learned about the meaning behind eating dairy products on Shavuot. We took this knowledge and put it into a cheesecake! Each student participated in a “Master Chef Shavuot” They will present their designs and explanations on Tuesday.
