5th Grade Week of 4/23
What a week in 5th Grade! Our 5A students had another excellent trip to the Brooklyn Autism Center, yet again showing their compassion and amazing ability to be kind to others. Please enjoy our class updates below, and have a good weekend!
HUMANITIES: Another successful week in Humanities! Students finished reading Revolution is not a Dinner Party and completed some really fun trailers on iMovie for the book. We also continued our China Museum writing portion and completed some fun extra credit work. Shabbat Shalom!-Tony
MATH: Fifth graders this week have been reviewing for the unit (Ratio) test on Monday, April 30th (also the due date for the extra credit). This officially ends the use of current textbook (5A) and workbook (5B)! Therefore, students were asked to bring them in on Monday in exchange for the next set of textbook (5B) and workbook (5B). Next unit is on Decimals!–Kelly
SCIENCE: Students this week started their astronomy unit with the exploration of our solar system. They used an interactive reference software from NASA to explore all the different objects within our solar system. Then they need to create a google slideshow picking four objects with a few facts. This introduction activity is allowing natural conversations to happen within science about all the amazing things we have discovered in astronomy.-Mike
HEBREW:
This week we focused on reviewing “Question words”. Students practiced writing questions on our type using infinitives both in past and present tense.
2) Students read a short article about the “Mount Sinai hospital” and how it had such an impact on the Jews living in NYC.
