6th Grade News: 5/7 – 5/11/18

  Science This week students finished their STEAM project. This was a long road of hard work in designing, creating, and building their informational disease games. The students worked extremely hard and had the opportunity to shine during our expo. We could not be more proud of every student’s hard work during this process. Let’s just take a moment and reflect on how far our students have grown as scientists during this year of  science. 5th Grade Week of 5/7

Another successful week in 5th Grade! Thank you to everyone for your kind gifts and thoughts for Teacher Appreciation Week. Please enjoy our class updates, and have a good weekend! Math Seventh graders spent the week reviewing for the upcoming ERB. Please remind your child to bring a calculator on Wednesday, May 16th for Math Part II. After the ERB, the classes will resume and learn unit materials: 7X on Volumes and Surface Areas of Solids (unit 13) and 7Y on Probability of Simple Events (unit 16). 4th progress report of the second semester was sent with your child today and it should be signed and returned by no later than Thursday, May 17th. Dear Third Grade Families, Our first full week of May has gone by in a flash! We’ve had two rehearsals for our NYC Play, numerous math lessons, a strong focus on research writing (or information writing), book clubs and social studies. Math: We have talked about many topics this week, some of which we will be going more in depth with next week. Special Visitor and Hebrew Party

Hebrew Celebration We had a special celebration in honor of finishing the script Aleph Bet and all our hard work in Hebrew this year. First Grade News: Week of May 7th

This week the first graders found out the winner of the Irma Black Awards. The winner is “7 ate 9” by Tara Lazar. We reread it to celebrate! In Science we used venn diagrams to compare and contrast aquariums and terrariums. Next week, first graders will create giant murals depicting our aquariums and terrariums. This week they sketched how it will look and brainstormed a list of materials. First grade mathematicians revisited addition with regrouping this week. Hello Fourth Grade Families! It’s hard to believe, but we’re down to the last five weeks of the school year! In fourth grade, though, that doesn’t mean the learning slows down. Students have been extra busy working on projects, preparing for the ERBs, enjoying food-based lessons in Hebrew, learning about Megillat Ruth in Judaic Studies, and getting ready to take their Israeli Restaurant Field Trip this Monday! Grandparents and Special Friends Day, Brooklyn Museum and more!

Dear Kindergarten Families, We had a week full of learning and fun events. The children enjoyed the trip to Brooklyn Museum learning about “Animals in Egyptian Art.” Thank you to all the chaperones for helping us to have a safe trip. Thank you, Zina, Lisa, Shira, and Jen!
